What
is DHT?
DHT is
a male hormone, Dihydrotestosterone, that is present in a person
immediately after his puberty and the purpose of DHT is
to develop secondary sexual characteristics.
When DHT
gets attached to the hair follicle, it prevents the
assimilation of nutrients to the follicles which in turn
cause thinning out of hair and finally shedding of hair
which results in hair loss.
Therefore
excessive levels of DHT in the scalp will result in
balding and this is most common in men than women.
DHT Hair
loss is then the main reason for most
male hair loss. Male hair loss is medically referred as
"Androgenic Alopecia", otherwise also known as male
pattern baldness.
Balding
with age
Millions of
men all over the world have to deal with hair loss. The
reasons for hair loss are numerous. Besides DHT hair
loss, there are other reasons that can cause a person's
hair to drop. Read here more to know more.
Men with
genetic predisposition for hair loss may have sensitive
areas in the scalp for male sex hormones.
As the men
age, these sensitive areas suffer from severe biological
imbalance.
The male
hormone, DHT, will then start to ruin the hair resulting
in DHT Hair Loss.
Slowly, over
a prolonged period, the follicles wilt and finally the
hair become thinner and shorter.
Treatment
for Hair Loss
Since
excessive levels of DHT is one of the main reason for
hair loss, one effective treatment for hair loss is to
use DHT inhibitors such as 5-alpha reductase.
There are
drugs in the market that helps block the DHT in the
scalp thus help prevent hair loss. By eating protein
rich food and protein supplements, hair loss can also be
stopped or cured.
The common
hair loss cure products available on the market are
NuGen Hp, Revivogen, and Hair Genesis. More about these
hair loss products can be found
here.
Some hair
loss products will contain natural ingredients that help
block DHT such as saw palmetto. These cures can come in
the form of shampoo, conditioners and scalp lotions.
